Artist's Comments

To get the kids excited about the upcoming move, I asked them what they wanted on their bedroom wall. Being kids, they obviously asked for more famous characters (Winx Club, W.I.T.C.H., Disney Princesses, etc) but they also asked for a few original characters of mine and a few friends. One of the requested characters was my own darling little rainbow of sunshine, Spectra.

They assisted on the color scheme, clothing design, palette, and posing... and they even helped a bit with some of the hands-on work. I'm so proud of them both! One day they can do all my artwork for me ;)

Spectra is © me. Work done by myself with help from the children. Enjoy!

wow, BRIGHT. And not in a bad way, the colors work beautifully together.

I love the foreshortening of her hand as well =)

That is WAY too cool. I especially love the texture of the hair and the way the eye color springs out. Clearly this girl is totally up to the Hug the Revolution challenge!

I always get nervous when I go to draw/color Spectra because there's that fine line between nice color balance and "Wow, my eyes x_x" XD

The wings are the eldest daughter's design. I went over her work with a texture but that was pretty much all her. I'll tell her she got a good complement on the morrow :D

When you say that one day your kids can do all your artwork for you... you are talking about sweatshop right? Why would you do that to your kids?
ANyway, great job, I never thought I would actually like something in this realm of art.
